Throughout her studies, Olivia developed a real passion for events and the industry. Known as the PJSE Queen of shoes and fashion, she chatted to Peter about well shoes and fashion, as well as what her highlights have been while working at PJSE in this next “White with one” – staff edition.
Peter: How do you take your coffee?
Latte – no sugar. On average, I would have 2 a day. I can have one as late as 7pm and still get to sleep OK. The no sugar is simply because my Mum is a Dental Nurse, so I’ve had it drilled into me from a young age that too much sugar is not good for your teeth.
Peter: Where is your favourite place to go for a coffee?
Di Bella, they have the best coffee and it is very convenient as they are just around the corner from work.
Peter: How long have you worked at PJSE and what is your background?
I started at PJSE in August 2013, so three years now. Prior to starting here I worked at anythonyjaye.com and worked with PJSE to book a lot of your entertainment. When I heard about the job opening, I applied for it and here I am. Before working at AJ’s I was studying for my Bachelor of Business Degree, which I majored in Event Management and Marketing.
Peter: What are some of your proudest moments/highlights while working at PJSE?
Even though I have only been here for three years, I’ve been lucky enough to be part of many amazing events. In particular –
- The Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics in 2014. To see all the athletes marching in and later dancing with the band was a wonderful feeling.
- More recently, The Prime Minister’s Olympic Dinner which was an incredible event! Hearing poet, Rupert McCall, on the history of the Olympics sent shivers down my spine.
- Also, the three AFL Grand Final Parades I have worked on. This year will be my first year as the Event Producer for this event and I’m really proud to be working with the team in putting it all together.
Peter: What is your favourite event to attend in Melbourne?
I’m a big footy fan – Go the Blues! But happy to go see other teams play too as long as I’m invited into a nice warm area.
Peter: We joke in the office about certain other events you seem to go to a lot……..
Ahhh yes – weddings! I do go to a lot of weddings due to my Italian heritage – everyone always gets invited regardless of how well you know the bride or groom. The biggest wedding I have been to had 500 guests and there was no way anyone would have known everyone in the room – the bride and groom included! But it was great fun.
Peter: What is the most popular song at an Italian wedding?
I always get a laugh when they do ‘That’s Amore’ as that’s my Mum’s maiden name.
Peter: Who are some of your most admired Melburnians?
Linda Dessau, the recently appointed Governor of Victoria, is one who has inspired and engaged with the community for many years. From a family perspective, it’s definitely my Nonna. A beautiful lady that has helped me develop into the woman I am today.
Peter: Now something you are famous for in the PJSE office is your shoe collection………
At last count, I had 60 pairs and I love them all! I have a Top 10 and would have a shoe clean out about twice a year for the ones I don’t wear as much. Shopping and shoes is definitely something I enjoy doing and I think I might be slightly addicted. In fact, I’d choose shoes and clothes over a good couch any day. Needless to say, there’s not much furniture at my place but at least I have my shoes.
Peter: Another thing you are always across is a celebrity red carpet………
Yes, I do appreciate a glamourous red carpet! I enjoy checking out who wore who on a red carpet.
Peter: Who would you like to walk down the red carpet with and why?
- Logies: It would be Hugh Sheridan because of the obvious – so cute
- Brownlow: Just myself – I am there to check out the dresses
- Oscars: Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively because they are Hollywood’s latest power couple
- Grammys: Beyoncé, because who wouldn’t!
Peter: Liv only you could have an answer to that question without having to think about it too hard. Finally, what is your favourite PJSE Christmas card?
The Real Housewives of North Melbourne. I’m embarrassed to admit it but I’m addicted to the show and the card was a lot of fun to put together. You as Gina Liano Pete was hilarious!
Peter: It was good fun. Liv, thank you for your time today and hopefully the Blues and the Dees have a better season next year.
